Closing Ceremony - Florinel Andrei
IRU XXVIIIth World
Congress Closing Ceremony
Florinel Andrei "Message of thanks by the Romanian Congress Organising Committee" Mr. President, Mr. General Secretary, Ladies and Gentlemen, We are now at the end of a week that has transformed the capital of Romania in a true center of the worldwide transports, by hosting the European Conference of Transports Ministers as well as IRU’ s 28th World Congress. As hosts and organizers of IRU’ s World Congress, the most prestigious event in the international road transports world, besides our sincere thanks addressed to all participants present to this reunion, we would like to express our deep feelings of contentment we have lived these days, when, analyzing the development of the congress works, we have realized that they have undoubtedly gone beyond the boundaries of a simple meeting. The fact that IRU’ s Congress took place in Bucharest not just stated but also highlighted universally recognized values. I shall stop only on one of them, but certainly the most important. This congress is a proof of the unity: The event reunited around 1,300 participants, representing 60 countries;
Not at last, principles and ideas have been put together, determining a complex approach of the issues discussed upon in a unitary manner. All these confirm one more time the fact that IRU is a great community as well as a great family and its unity, as fundamental value, means power. Unity, cooperation, understanding, interactive discussions, everybody’s efforts to refer and adapt to the same principles in the context of the complex problems herein debated have given us the feeling that during these days we have been living a unique experience of communication and life in general. Furthermore, the variety of subjects approached with coherence and responsibility has increased the efficiency of the Congress works. The Congress thematic – “challenges and opportunities” has meant more than it could normally be deduced from this formula. To us, as hosts, the organization of this congress in Bucharest was a real challenge indeed. Meanwhile though, its development in Romania represented a good opportunity for us to state before you the genuine values emerging from the history, traditions and faith of the Romanian people. We hope that the hospitality and warmth found in each of our actions have been well perceived by all the participants to the Congress. Success of this event brings us joy and delights us, especially if we think that we have also played an important role in its organization so that all participants should live unique moments, moments that they would surely always remember. We thank once again to all participants to the Congress works. The success of this event is also due to their presence, presence without which our efforts would have been in vain. |
