Dresden is succeeding in proving true and further developing as an important destination for national and international tourism. Beside many facts which have to be considered in concepts and strategies relating to town and traffic planning, the tourist and economic aspects thereof are of vital importance. This becomes evident in the so-called “Mobility Strategy of Dresden“.

The Mobility Strategy of Dresden consists of 4 pillars: Urban development and traffic, traffic infrastructure, traffic management and mobility management. Coach management is an integral part of this and is predominantly included in the classification of traffic infrastructure and management. It consists of a coach parking and guidance system as well as offering services and is communicated via a large information system.

Coach management has the slogan: “Not only managing coach tourism but creating coach tourism“. On this note it is important that all players (local economies, city, coach and tourism sector, tourists) participate actively in the solution of problems and reach win-win situations using joint strategies. The example of Dresden shows that this can be a successful method and at the same time it possesses a big potential for innovation through expert knowledge and know-how.
