.Travel - Policy changes

Notice of “.Travel” Policy Changes of interest for you

The Travel Partnership Corporation (TTPC) has approved some very important policy changes of interest for bus, coach and taxi companies wishing to register a “.travel” Internet domain name to take effect 21 December 2007

The Travel Partnership Corporation (TTPC) has approved some very important policy changes to take effect December 21, 2007 that may affect you.

As of December 21, 2007 companies, including bus, coach and taxi companies,  that have been authenticated as eligible travel businesses or organizations as well as individual agents will be allowed to register any available .travel domain name directly through the IRU preferred registrar EnCirca at http://www.encirca.com/perl/travel-partner.pl?AFFIL=iru&ap=iru or through any .travel approved registrar (trademark laws apply). http://www.travel.travel/dnr.htm

To access the .travel application and authentication form go to:  http://www.iru.org/index/en_en_dot_travel  (Also available in Français, Deutsch, Русский). Here (http://www.authentication.travel/index.jsp?ap=iru) you will be able to apply for your authenticated UIN number which will allow you to purchase your requested names from an approved registrar.

Bus, coach and taxi companies that have already applied for or registered a .travel domain name and have a confirmed UIN can go directly to the IRU preferred registrar EnCirca at http://www.encirca.com/perl/travel-partner.pl?AFFIL=iru&ap=iru or to any other approved registrars at: http://www.travel.travel/dnr.htm to request and purchase additional names.

Bus, coach and taxi companies who have been unable to register a desired domain name, due to the strict .travel policies, will now have the opportunity to register those names (if available) starting December 21st.

There are two important places you can visit now to determine what .travel domain names you might be interested in are still available.

    • http://www.whois.travel/ - go here to enter any domain names you are interested in. This site will tell you if a name is available and if not, who has registered it.
    • http://www.authentication.travel/reserved.jsp - this is an important site to be aware of because it shows ‘Place Names and Industry Terms’ that are currently reserved and not available for registration. This is important because if you type in a name that is on this list in the Whois link above it may show the name you type in as not registered giving you the impression that it is available, which is not the case because it is a reserved name. This, however, will change on December 21 when the new policy will result in most of these names being released for general registration.

All policy changes and more can be found at http://www.ttpc.travel/ and http://travel.travel.

If you have any questions about the changes, please send an email to at oleg.kamberski@iru.org, christina.grimme@iru.org, or support@authentication.travel, Or call us at +32 743 25 80 or +1 954-769-5999.
