Dear Delegate,

We thank you for your interest and participation in the International Road Transport’s Unions 31st World Congress to be held in Istanbul, 15-16 May 2008.

In order to make your stay in Istanbulas comfortable as possible, please find below some useful information:

Travel

  • Please let IRUEvent (event@iru.org) have your arrival and departure times to / from Istanbul by return email! Without it we cannot organise your airport transfer! 

Your Arrival and Transfer

  • Upon your arrival at IstanbulInternationalAirport, look for the IRU Congress sign where hostesses will direct you to your transfer coach
  • Transfers from the airport will be available according to the flight information we have received from you. They will bring you to your announced official congress hotel. Return transfer to Airport depends also on available information.

Hotels

  • If you have not yet booked a hotel room in one of the official Congress hotels please find the necessary information and booking form on or Congress Webpage http://www.iru.org/index/en_2008_istanboul_hotel or contact the Congress booking agency by email at  iru@vip.com.tr
  • At the principal hotels, a Congress Hospitality Desk will be there to help solve any organisational problems related to the Congress. Otherwise look for the Congress Information Board in the hotel lobby.

Registration

  • The IRU Registration Desk, located in the main lobby of the Lüfti Kirdar Congress Centre, will be open from 8:30 on 15 May.
  • If you have not yet paid your Registration Fee you will be able to do so at the IRURegistration Desk in cash or by credit card.
  • Payment by bank transfer should not be made after 5 May due to delays in the receipt of such payment.
  • Delegate Badges and bags will be issued to you by IRU Registration desk staff. Please ensure you collect your badge before lunch at the MilitaryMuseum(located next to the Congress centre, lunch venue on 15 and 16 May).

Bus transfers during the Congress

  • Look for transfer schedules on the Congress Information Board in Hotel lobbies.
  • Transfers between the official Congress hotels and the Lüfti Kirdar Congress and Exhibition Centre will normally be available in the hour preceding Congress sessions and the hour following the end of the Congress day.
  • Transfers between the official Congress hotels and the Social Events (Welcome Cocktail and Dinner at the Grand Bazaar on 15 May and the Gala Dinner at the CiraganPalace on 16 May) will leave at 19:00 on both days. Return transfers will also be ensured.
